Book signings went well
Our book signings went well ... we even sold a few books! It was a neat experience and one I'll probably repeat in the near future. Anyway, another benefit of having the book signings was that I got to see Terry and Dawn and their kids Mathias and Rebekah all together for the first time in more than 12 years! That was a true blessing and one I'll remember fondly for the rest of my life. Of course, the visit--all too short in just three days--just reminded me of how much I miss my friends who now live in Germany. But I guess the whole thing was bittersweet for that reason. Anyway, it's the "sweet" part I'll remember most and cherish.

Update
Was sick and couldn't attend the Ohioana Book Festival. Bummer. I was invited to apply for next year, though, and plan to do that.
On tap now are some more book-signing events: two at my church on the weekend on May 30-31 after each of the three services (6 p.m. on the 30th and 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on the 31st) and one at a local Barnes & Noble store on June 1st from 4 to 7 p.m. Am looking forward to these for more than the obvious reasons: my co-author Terry and his family will be in town on those days, visiting from Germany! It will be the first time I've seen them all together since 1997! Will post on how the visit and the book signings go.

Ohioana Book Festival
Well, it's finally THE week. The Ohio Book Festival is this Saturday, May 9. This will be my first time doing something like this and I am admittedly a bit nervous about it. Please pray for me to do well and for the day to go fast (it's from 10 to 4:30). I'll let you know how it went.

Not so fast ...
In my last post, I mentioned that I would be attending the Ohioana Book Festival. Well, scratch that to say I MIGHT be attending. It seems that the Ohioana people jury attendees, so if they decide they like our book well enough, I will be attending. I will keep you posted on my progress. I will get word of whether I've been accepted into the event sometime in April. Say a prayer for me. :>)

The Ohioana Book Festival
I will be attending the third annual Ohioana Book Festival on Saturday, May 9 at the State Library of Ohio, 274 E. First Avenue, Columbus starting at 9:30 a.m. and going until who knows when. According to my publisher, this is an event designed to "increase awareness of the importance of Ohio writers and their contributions to the literary arts."Eeeeek! This will be the first such event I've attended and I will be there at my booth with books, bookmarks, postcards and posters in tow. Don't know how many I'll sell throughout the day; assuming that I can get a ride down there and someone to take me home. I'm going to soon send out an email to ask some kind person (or people) to take pity on this carless person that day. I will keep you posted on what happens and how it goes.

Help with Trauma
I regularly use the principles in Contentment to Go with soldiers just back from Iraq who have had a variety of war trauma experiences. Over the years I have counseled people who have suffered sexual, emotional and physical abuse of all manner. They report the healing effects of learning to receive the love they thought was long gone or they no longer thought worthy of hoping for. It has helped them overcome the affects of the trauma, not just cope with it. God sets us free through his principles according to his timing and will.

Preparation
I have been busy tweaking our website at Contentment To Go and getting it ready for search engines. Because of that, I haven't taken the time to post to the blog. But I'm here now and want to let you know that the book is worth the $14.99 it costs. I know I'm a bit prejudiced, :>) but it really is worth it! I have suffered from clinical depression for most of my life, and the material in this book has been quite helpful to me. Plus, lots of work (for years) went into putting it all together and polishing it up, getting it ready for its debut (which happens April 14). It really would be a shame for you to miss the book and not learn what it has to teach you. Pick up a copy and let us know what you think.

Contentment To Go Synopsis
Do you want to be miserable? Chances are, you don't The truth is, everyone wants to be contented in life, but most of us choose the wrong ways to find it. How? We try to earn contentment. We think that if we can just "get it right" that we will be happy. You know, live in the right place, have enough money, work hard enough, have good relationships ... of course, those things never work for long, even if they do materialize. That emptiness still remains.
We're Reverend Terry Sovinsky, MSW LICSW and Susan Pavilkey, authors of the new book, Contentment To Go: Because the World Doesn't Deliver! This book shows you that there's good news: an abundant life of contentment is possible despite your circumstances!
Contentment To Go teaches you how to follow the Biblical command to renew your mind and receive God's love. Written for seekers and Christians alike, the book uses the Bible to explore the dichotomy between our natural inclination to earn love and the Godly call to simply receive his grace and how that duality impacts our daily behavior.
Terry is a marriage and family therapist who has used this material in his practice for the more than 30 years. In the book, he focuses on practical ways you can appropriate the changes grace makes in your life to better deal with problems and challenges. Susan, a freelance writer, then offers everyday applications, making it easy to follow along.

Book's material used for decades ...
Terry Sovinsky, the other author of Contentment To Go, has used the material in the book for decades in his counseling career, including Christian counseling and secular social work. Many people from a wide range of ethnic, religious, cultural, and racial groups have attested to the effectiveness of the material. It is our sincere desire that others will "jump on the bandwagon" so to speak and pick up a copy of the book so that they can be helped in their search for contentment. It's not true that bad circumstances mean you have to be miserable. True contentment is possible despite circumstances and this book will help you discover that fact.
